Leonard Cutter is appointed acting mayor of Boston.

[11/28] The chairman of the Board of Aldermen, Cutter replaces Henry Pierce (R), who was appointed to fill a vacancy in Congress on November 6, 1873. He serves out the remainder of Pierce’s term and leaves office on January 5, 1874.
